At Thai Design, we believe that traditions and culture are just as important as craftsmanship. This year, we were thrilled to bring one of Thailand’s most beautiful and meaningful festivals — Loy Krathong — to our factory.
Loy Krathong, which translates to “to float a basket,” is a cherished festival across Thailand. People float beautifully decorated baskets made from natural materials on water to thank the water goddess for her blessings throughout the year. It’s also a symbolic way of letting go of bad luck, negativity, and anything we wish to leave behind, while welcoming good fortune and happiness into our lives.
Bringing the Festival to Life at Our Factory
For this special occasion, our team worked together to create a warm and festive atmosphere. We decorated the space with a stunning arch and torches, which glowed beautifully as the sun set — setting the perfect scene for the evening’s celebration.
Each employee received a lantern with a candle inside, which they carefully hung along the line. Rows of glowing lanterns created a cozy, heartwarming ambiance. In Northern Thai tradition, the Lanna Candle Tray represents protection from bad spirits and brings good fortune, making this moment particularly meaningful.
After setting up, everyone enjoyed a snack box while mingling and sharing laughs — a simple but powerful way to connect as a team and enjoy the festive spirit together.
Floating The Krathong
The highlight of the night was, of course, floating the Krathongs in our garden pond. One by one, our team made a silent wish for good things to come before gently setting their Krathongs afloat. Watching the candlelight drift softly across the water was serene and symbolic — a visual reminder of letting go of worries and negativity.
The evening continued with fireworks, filling the air with laughter, color, and joy. To close the celebration, we released floating paper lanterns into the night sky. Seeing hundreds of lanterns rise slowly and glow above us was breathtaking. In Thai tradition, this act symbolizes letting go of bad luck and negativity, while opening ourselves to brighter days ahead.
A Meaningful and Heartwarming Celebration
This celebration was more than just a festival — it was a moment to connect, reflect, and appreciate. The evening was full of light, warmth, unity, and positivity, leaving everyone feeling inspired and peaceful.
