At Thai Design, our people are the heartbeat of our business. Every milestone we’ve achieved has been possible because of their dedication, creativity, and care. The celebration of our 50th anniversary was a perfect opportunity to express our deep appreciation and to launch a powerful initiative that speaks directly to the heart of who we are at Thai Design.
Our new recognition badge programme is intended to reflect the unique culture we are cultivating. Small yet deeply meaningful tokens, our recognition badges are not merely tied to job titles or length of service. They are earned, not given, awarded to team members who embody our values through their actions and mindset. Sewn proudly onto the left sleeve of our Friday uniforms, each badge is a visible illustration of an individual’s unique contributions to our team. On our part, it’s an expression of appreciation for the people who shape our business every single day through action, attitude and heart.
This new scheme was introduced during a dedicated ceremony during the vibrant evening celebrations of our 50th anniversary week, mixed into the programme after a bit of fun (as you can see from the photos below). Each embroidered badge is attached to a matching card, which has a hand-written note of appreciation on the back, and both are presented in a lovely little envelope. We wanted each presentation to feel special and sentimental, as well as personal.
Importantly, this ceremony was not a one-off gesture. The badge programme is designed to grow with us, evolving to reflect the qualities and behaviours that matter most in our workplace. This year, we’re welcoming 13 distinct badges. As our team continues to adapt and thrive, more will follow.
What our Recognition Badges Represent

Every recognition badge reflects a specific quality, value or contribution that fortifies our Thai Design culture. They highlight the multitude of ways excellence can show up in our daily work.
Outstanding Activity Champion
Awarded to those who show up - every time - with energy and enthusiasm for company activities. At Thai Design, regular activities are an important opportunity to nurture connection, celebrate wins, and foster skills development. Whether it’s celebrating Loy Krathong with colourful lanterns, joining in on Songkran (New Year) water festivities or taking part in team-building exercises and Lean workshops, these individuals lead by example and inspire others to get involved. Their participation helps create a sense of unity and shared experience across the business.

Happiness Creator
Recognises team members who bring warmth, positivity and genuine care into the workplace. They foster strong bonds within and across departments, lift moods, and offer kindness when it’s needed most. These colleagues remind us that emotional wellbeing is just as important as professional performance.

Health and Wellness Advocate
Awarded to individuals who make health a priority - both for themselves and for those
around them. They might lead by example with regular exercise, encourage mindfulness or promote a healthy work-life balance. Our own commitment to wellbeing is reflected in initiatives like annual health checks, our quiet library room and activities such as pétanque and indoor wooden games that support movement and connection.

Relationship
Builder
For the “quiet glue” within the team - the listeners, the peacekeepers and the empathetic connectors. The Relationship Builders foster trust, help bridge generational or cultural differences and offer support in ways that strengthen unity across the company.

Environmental Steward
Honours those who actively take steps to integrate sustainability into our daily operations. From separating plastic waste for recycling to turning fallen leaves into compost, their actions prove that small, consistent efforts make a big impact.

Lean Culture Advocate
Recognises team members who bring Lean thinking into their daily work; finding cleaner, smarter, and more efficient ways to operate.
For those who aren’t familiar with the concept, Lean is a production philosophy focused on maximising value for the customer while minimising waste within a manufacturing system.
It emphasises efficiency, continuous improvement and eliminating non-value-added activities in the production process.
Our dedicated Lean team meets weekly to explore ways of reducing waste, improving processes and sharing wisdom - even drawing on traditional local techniques to enhance our modern workflow.

5S Guru
For those who keep their workspaces a model of organisation through the 5S model:
Sort Set in Order Shine Standardise Sustain
These team members inspire others to take pride in their areas, share creative storage ideas, and build tools that make tasks easier.

Time Management Master
Awarded to individuals who handle deadlines and workloads with intention and care. From production coordinators to order planners, they keep schedules on track, anticipate challenges and maintain smooth operations without sacrificing quality.

Continuous Improvement Champion
Celebrates those who are never satisfied with “just good enough.” These colleagues
embrace curiosity, challenge assumptions and look for ways to make processes smarter and more meaningful. They live by the principle that improvement is an everyday habit.

Customer Care Champion
For team members who go above and beyond to ensure every customer feels valued, respected and understood. This badge is not reserved exclusively for our Customer Service team because exemplary customer care is not just found in emails and consultations; it can manifest as a CAD designer fine-tuning details based on client feedback, or a sample team member ensuring every single piece far exceeds expectations.

Process Innovation Pioneer
Honours those who see problems as opportunities for creativity. Our Design Master Makers - a specialist group within our Development team - are a great example, helping transform complex concepts into beautiful, produciblejewellery by thinking outside the box.

Skill Development Advocate
For colleagues committed to learning, seeking mentorship and building new skills. At Thai Design we’re dedicated to nurturing the confidence and capabilities of our team members, and this is demonstrated by our Skill Map. This chart helps to track progress, identify growth areas and create targeted training, ensuring that individual growth benefits the whole team.

Safety First Advocate ( new )
Recognises those who promote a safe and secure working environment by following protocols, raising awareness and looking out for others. Safety is a universal priority, and we expect to see this badge awarded often in the years ahead.
More Than Just Badges

These badges mean more than just fabric and thread. They’re symbols of pride and gratitude that celebrate the rich tapestry of humankind, and the many different ways we can bring greatness to the table. For one person, it can look like quiet consistency; another, bold innovation, or a warm smile in a difficult moment.
They’re a reminder that every contribution matters. Whether it’s streamlining a process, lifting the team’s spirits, protecting the environment or ensuring a customer feels special, each action helps shape the culture and future of Thai Design.
Our hope is that the badges will not only honour past achievements, but inspire new ones -encouraging all of us to live the values they represent, every single day. As we move forward, we’ll continue to add new badges to the variety to reflect our evolving vision. At the end of the day, it’s our people - their passion, ideas and generosity of spirit - that make Thai Design what it is. There’s nothing we value more.
